AAAA
IPv6 address. Maps a hostname to an IPv6 address.

CAA
Certificate authority. Specifies which certificate authorities may issue certificates for a domain.

CNAME
Canonical name. Creates an alias from one hostname to another canonical hostname.
shop.example.com. 300 IN CNAME stores.example.net.
MX
Mail exchange. Directs email delivery to the mail servers responsible for a domain.

TXT
Text data. Stores text used for verification, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and other policies.

NS
Name server. Identifies the authoritative name servers for a DNS zone.
example.com. 86400 IN NS ns1.provider.net.
SOA
Start of authority. Contains the primary zone authority and essential zone timing parameters.

PTR
Reverse lookup. Maps an IP address back to a hostname in a reverse DNS zone.

SRV
Service locator. Locates services by protocol, port, priority and weight.
_sip._tcp.example.com. 3600 IN SRV 10 20 5060 sip.example.com.
NAPTR
Naming authority pointer. Supports rule-based service discovery, often combined with SRV records.

DNSKEY
DNSSEC public key. Publishes the public key used to validate DNSSEC signatures.

DS
Delegation signer. Links a child DNSSEC zone to its parent through a digest of its DNSKEY.

SPF
Sender policy. Legacy record type for sender policy; modern deployments generally publish SPF in TXT.

HINFO
Host information. Describes a host CPU and operating system; rarely used on public DNS.

SSH
SSH fingerprint. Publishes SSH host key fingerprints, normally using SSHFP records.
